I saw a program this weekend for a restaurant which sold what they consider to be “healthy hamburgers”. They were made by:
1) Getting hamburger that comes from grain or grass fed cattle (no hormones used). This can be bought at health food grocery stores like the whole foods market.
2) Broil or grill the hamburgers to let the grease separate from the meet. Do not fry them.
3) Use whole grain buns from a health food market or make your own bread using high quality ingredients. Whole grain bread is an excellent source of fiber, and this “no carb diet” phase is dying and is not a healthy diet to follow anyway.
4) Spray your french fries with no-stick spray and bake them. This will cut the grams of fat in almost off and provide a healthy alternative to greasy french fries.
Take the time and effort to prepare healthy meals for your children and family. You will see and feel the difference each time you do.
